How we found out which salt to use:
We used calorimetry to find out which salt(NH4NO3, Na2CO3, or CaCl2) would meet all the requirements. Calorimetry is the amount of heat absorbed in a chemical reaction. We tested each salts with the styrofoam cup calorimeter. It works by having one of the salts mixed with water in a styrofoam cup, covered with a styrofoam lid. Instead of using the stirrer, we shook the cup to mix the salt with water. Then, we measured the temperature change by connecting a ----- with our calculators.
